Grok, Grok Bot, and Grok Build

Three official products share the name Grok. They are not the same tool, and Botski is not any of them. This page is an independent guide. Official docs win if a label here goes stale. Who can sign in is covered in those docs.

Grok

Grok is xAI’s assistant. You use it on the web and in the iOS and Android apps. A conversation stays in that chat: questions, writing, files you upload, voice, and images or video when you ask for them. Connectors can reach mail, files, or a calendar from inside the chat.

Closing that chat is not the same as leaving a Grok Bot running. Grok does not give you the shared Bot computer described below.

Grok Bot

Grok Bot gives you named Bots: teammates with a job and context that builds up. You message a Bot from the desktop app (macOS, Windows, or Linux) or the phone apps. The same signed-in account keeps those Bots in sync.

Official docs say each Bot works on a persistent cloud computer, and the same pages say every Bot on your account uses that one computer. It is assigned to the account, not to one Bot. Files, browser logins, and command-line credentials on it are visible to the whole roster. Each Bot gets its own screen. A screen is a work surface, not a vault.

The computers run in Cursor’s cloud. You sign in with a Cursor account. Closing the app or the laptop does not stop a background turn or a routine. See Do bots work when your laptop is closed?.

Grok Build

Grok Build is a coding agent. You run it in a terminal, from a script, or inside another app. It works in a project folder: read the repo, edit files, run commands, and use skills or subagents for that session.

It can put a command in the background while the coding chat continues. That is not a Grok Bot on the shared cloud computer, and it is not a named teammate you keep in the Grok Bot app. Install steps live in the official Grok Build docs. Get Botski does not install Grok Build, Grok, or Grok Bot.
