Cookies are small values stored by a browser. Similar technologies include local storage and session storage. Botski uses storage to support necessary functions and the preferences you choose. Details about personal information are in our Privacy Policy.
Necessary storage
Necessary storage can support sign-in sessions, request security, abuse prevention, and remembering privacy choices. Storage used for a feature you request may also remember a display preference or an unfinished local brief. The inventory below explains what is actually used, its purpose, and how long it lasts.
| Name | Type | Purpose | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|---|
| better-auth.session_token (or __Secure-better-auth.session_token on HTTPS) | Necessary cookie | Keep you signed in and protect the session | 24 hours; refreshed while you use the account |
| botski-theme | Preference cookie + local storage | Remembers light or dark display (cookie and a same-named local storage mirror) | 1 year, refreshed on each visit, or until you change it or clear site data |
| botski-analytics-preference | Preference cookie | Remembers whether you chose Allow analytics or No thanks | 1 year, or until you change it or clear site data |
| botski-locale | Preference cookie + local storage | Remembers the language you chose for bot.ski (cookie and a same-named local storage mirror) | 15 minutes (refreshed when you change language or revisit), or until you clear site data |
| botski-game-fix-v1 | Local storage | Remember Fix This Bot progress and first score on this browser | Until you use Clear game data or clear site data |
| botski-game-flash-order-v2 | Local storage | Remember Flash Order bests per mode, day streak, mute, calm motion, and card look on this browser | Until you use Clear game data or clear site data |
| botski-game-flash-order-v1 | Local storage | Older Flash Order best. Read once into the v2 record when you play. Clear game data removes it | Until you use Clear game data or clear site data |
| botski-game-count-field-v2 | Local storage | Remember Count Field best score per mode, day streak, mute, and unlocked looks on this browser | Until you use Clear game data or clear site data |
| botski-game-count-field-v1 | Local storage | Older Count Field best score. The next visit to Count Field saves that best in botski-game-count-field-v2 and removes this older key | Until that visit, you use Clear game data, or you clear site data |
Botski sets no advertising or session-recording storage of its own. Embedded X posts on blog notes load from X, which may set its own cookies (for example __cf_bm) and may log the view under X’s policies; Botski does not control that storage. Google Analytics (GA4) is not used unless you choose Allow analytics. The Google tag loads only after that choice, and only when analytics is enabled for this site. Signing in with X or Google uses that provider’s own site and storage during the redirect; that is not Botski analytics. If an edge or security provider is connected, it may set its own strictly necessary cookies to deliver the site and reduce abuse. Session cookie caching is off.
The inventory distinguishes storage required for a requested function from optional measurement. A provider's label alone does not determine whether storage is necessary.
Optional tracking
Botski’s own optional analytics, advertising trackers, and session recording are off by default. Embedded X posts are not Botski storage; see Other websites below. We do not activate an optional category without the appropriate choice from you. If optional categories are offered, the controls explain their purposes and providers and let you reject them as easily as accepting them. Public learning content remains available if you reject optional tracking.
When only necessary storage is in use, there may be no optional categories to turn on. We do not show a consent button that secretly authorizes additional uses.
Your controls
Use Cookie preferences in the website footer when optional controls are available. You can change or withdraw an optional choice there. Your browser can also delete or block stored values; blocking necessary session storage may sign you out or prevent a requested account feature from working.
If a brief is saved only on your device, anyone with access to that browser profile may be able to see it. Use the clear/reset control to remove it. Clearing your browser does not delete records you separately saved to your account or held by service providers.
We keep optional tracking disabled when a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal is present, unless you explicitly choose Allow analytics (or Accept recommended) in Cookie preferences. Those signals also keep optional X embeds and optional YouTube players unloaded; Botski shows a link instead. These settings do not stop processing required to deliver the site securely, and they do not change your email subscription.
Other websites
Following a link to X, Google, Grok Bot, or another website takes you to a service with its own storage and privacy practices. Sign in with X or Sign in with Google uses that provider’s sign-in page. Some blog notes embed X posts or YouTube videos that load from those services, as described below.
Blog notes may show an optional X embed of a post. The page loads that embed from X only after you choose to load that post. X may set its own cookies (for example __cf_bm) and may log the view under X’s own policies; Botski does not control that storage. X posts that carry a broadcast, LIVE stream, or video always show as a plain copy of the post with a View on X link, and Botski does not contact X for them. With either signal on, every X post shows that plain copy and Botski does not contact X. A YouTube player, when a verified video URL is present, uses YouTube’s privacy-enhanced domain, stays unloaded until it is near the viewport, and never autoplays. Watch on YouTube and Read on … links always work.
