Memory

Also called AI memory.

Memory is information an application saves for later interactions. What is stored and recalled depends on that application.

Example

You tell a bot your shop closes on Monday. If that product has memory, a later chat may use Monday without you repeating it. If it does not, you say it again.

Why it matters

Some products save facts you asked them to remember. Others keep only the current chat. A saved memory can be wrong, stale, or broader than you intended, so it is worth knowing what the product stores.

Common confusion

Memory is not the context window. The window is this turn's budget. Memory is what the app chose to keep for another day.
