Recipe, not the meal
Templates for Grok Bot says a template shares a Bot as a recipe, not a clone. When you create a template, you package a copy of the Bot’s instructions, relevant memories and skills, and specific plugins.
The other person is not getting your running Bot. They get a blueprint they can add to their own account. Official language is “recipe, not meal”: their copy will look different from the Bot you already run.
Create and manage Bots is explicit about what is not included. Adding a shared Bot creates a copy on the recipient’s account. It does not give them your computer, logins, or conversation history.
On August 28, 2026 the official Grok Bot account on X said you can share templates of your Bots with others. That is the recipe announcement. It is not a hand-over of the computer those Bots already use.
The link shows the config
A public link can be opened by anyone who has it. Official Bot docs say it shows the shared configuration, including identity, description, skills, and routines. Remove API keys, internal URLs, customer data, and anything else you would not put in a public document before you share.
The third-party bot terms say the same thing from the legal side: anyone with the share link can view and install the Bot’s full configuration, including skills, routines, and identity content. Do not include anything you need to keep confidential.
Clicking “Share as template” is not the same as going live. Templates for Grok Bot says you still choose a public link or a team-only link as a next step.
Read a template before you add it
Shared Bots are created by other users, not by SpaceXAI. Adding one accepts the third-party bot terms. Official terms say SpaceXAI does not verify, endorse, or guarantee third-party Bots.
Templates for Grok Bot tells you to view the details, read the context and integrations, and make sure everything in the template is what you expect before you add it. You still connect your own accounts for any integrations that Bot needs.
