A queue is work waiting to be processed.
Example
Three messages arrive for a bot to handle. They wait in a queue, and the bot takes the next one when it is free.
Why it matters
The waiting items can be tasks, messages, jobs, or requests. A release order is only one kind of queue. The shared idea is that something waits its turn instead of all running at once.
Common confusion
A queue is not only a list of site releases. Any work waiting to be handled can be a queue.
