Agentic AI

Also called agentic.

Agentic AI describes systems that work toward a goal by choosing steps, using tools, and adjusting to results within the access and limits they are given.

Example

You ask a bot to compare three supplier pages. It opens the pages, notices one price is missing, and asks you before it emails the supplier.

Why it matters

The useful part for a beginner is the loop: look at the goal, take a step, notice what happened, and choose another step. A fixed automation can also complete several steps. Agentic behavior involves choosing or adapting parts of the work.

Common confusion

Agentic does not mean completely independent, always correct, or allowed to do anything. Terminology varies across products.
