Grok Bot news, Oct 26-28: product cards, Shop Pay, a free X connector and Shared Bots at work

TL;DR

  • Oct 26: Grok Bot 0.75.8 lets you add auto-review rules right in chat.
  • Oct 26: The X connector no longer needs a developer account or X API credits.
  • Oct 27: The Grok Bot account showed three Shared Bots its sales team uses, and a new "What's New" video walked through recent features.
  • Oct 28: Grok Bot 0.78.1 brings shopping product cards, subscription templates and Shop Pay in the Vault.

All times are Central Time.

0.75.8: auto-review rules from chat (Oct 26)

On Monday afternoon @ericzakariasson posted that 0.75.8 was stable and rolling out.

The headline change is small but handy: you can add an auto-review rule in the chat itself and confirm it with a card, instead of digging through settings. The post also lists a few fixes. Auto-review "takes a second look before blocking," Slack approval cards now say what they are asking about, and plugin skills work right after install. If you are new to approvals, Review before you automate is a good place to start.

The X connector got cheaper to use (Oct 26)

That evening @santiagomed posted that the team had removed the need for a developer account and X API credits to use the X connector in Grok Bot.

@santiagomed

Last week, we removed the need for a developer account and X API credits to use the X connector in Grok Bot Ask @bot to manage your bookmarks, go over your DMs, or draft an article for you free of additional charge

His examples: ask your Bot to manage your bookmarks, go over your DMs, or draft an article, "free of additional charge." When someone asked whether they needed to remove their current connector, he replied with one word: "Automatically." So if you already had it connected, you should not need to do anything.

How the Grok Bot sales team uses Shared Bots (Oct 27)

On Tuesday the official account shared a real example of Shared Bots at work.

@bot

Our sales operations team built Shared Bots that help reps move deals faster.

The post names three Bots. Account Intel Bot updates the CRM after calls. Quote Bot prepares proposals and order forms. Deal Bot reviews non-standard terms and routes exceptions for approval. Notice the pattern: each Bot has one clear job, and the risky step goes to a person. We wrote about that idea in Start with one clear job.

A video tour of what's new (Oct 27)

The same morning @mattyp posted a "What's New in Grok Bot" video.

Three things lead the list. Shopping results now show up as product cards. There are new subscription templates. And you can connect Shop Pay in the Vault. The post says there is "a lot more" and links to the full notes, so check those before relying on any one detail. For how your Bot shops today, see Shopping with a link.
