Generative AI
Also called generative artificial intelligence.
Generative AI produces new content, such as text, images, audio, or code, from patterns learned during training.
Example
You ask a bot to draftA draft is work that is not finalized yet. a privacy notice from your notes. The draft is new text. You still have to check that it matches the notes.
Why it matters
The output can be useful and still be wrong. Generation is different from a search box that only returns an existing page. The product still has to be told what it may do with the result.
Common confusion
Generative does not mean true. A fluent paragraph can still invent a fact.
