Large language model

Also called LLM.

A large language model is an AI model trained on large amounts of text and other data to understand and generate language.

Example

You paste a meeting note and ask for five bullets. The large language model writes the bullets from that note and from its training. You still check the names.

Why it matters

People shorten it to LLM. The model works on tokens, not on whole documents as a single lump. It can write fluent language and still be wrong about a fact.

Common confusion

LLM names the model family. It is not a synonym for an agent, a chatbot product, or an AI token.
