Gemini Spark is Google’s 24/7 personal agent inside the Gemini app. Google introduced it at I/O on May 19, 2026. You give it a task, and it keeps working in Google’s cloud after you close your laptop or lock your phone.
Google describes three building blocks. A task is the goal. A schedule says when it runs, at a set time or after an event. A skill is a reusable set of instructions that teaches Spark how to do something; you can pick one, or Spark uses one when it fits.
Spark works for one personal Google account. Google CC is a separate Google Labs experiment built for households of up to six. Facts in one guide do not carry over to the other.
Check that your Google AI plan and country include Spark, then turn on only the connected apps a task needs. Start with something easy to check, like an inbox digest, and read each confirmation request before you approve it.
A personal agent for people who already use Gmail, Docs and Calendar. It takes on multi-step tasks and keeps working in Google's cloud when your devices are off.
Google says Spark runs on Gemini 3.5 and uses its Antigravity agent harness; launch coverage names Gemini 3.5 Flash.
The Gemini mobile app, the Gemini app for Mac and gemini.google.com. Google has announced texting and emailing Spark.
Gmail, Calendar, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive, Keep and Tasks, plus Contacts, Google Photos, YouTube and Google Search services such as Maps and Flights. Third-party apps include Canva, Dropbox, Instacart, OpenTable and Zillow, and you can add custom apps by MCP server URL. Connections stay off until you turn them on.
Uses Personal Intelligence, including memory of your past Gemini chats and your instructions for Gemini. Skills hold reusable instructions.
Schedules run a task at a set date and time or when something happens, such as a delayed flight. They can also watch topics across news, finance and sports.
Keeps working in the cloud when you close your laptop or lock your phone. Up to 15 tasks can run at once.
Uses a remote browser and a remote computer that can run code. In desktop Chrome it can also drive your own browser, and the Gemini app for Mac can work with files you allow.
Drafts and replies to email, creates and edits Docs, Sheets and Slides, and builds research briefs with cited sources and custom news digests.
Google has announced custom sub-agents.
Skills are reusable instructions with extra context. You can pick one for a task, or Spark uses one when it fits. Google suggests skills you can customize.
Needs a Google AI Pro or Ultra subscription. It launched as a beta for US Ultra subscribers in May, and US Pro subscribers got access on July 16.
Wherever Gemini Apps are supported except the European Economic Area, Nigeria, Switzerland and the UK. Adults 18+ with a personal Google account and Keep Activity on; work and school accounts aren't supported yet.
Comes with Google AI Pro or Ultra; there is no separate Spark plan. At I/O, Engadget reported Pro at $20/month and a new Ultra tier at $100/month.
Google calls Spark an experimental feature and asks you to supervise it. It asks before sending messages, changing your data, making purchases or submitting web forms, and you can take over its browser at any time.
If a schedule runs while you're offline, you may not be able to stop an unintended action. Google Tasks changes can run in bulk without confirmation.
CNBC reported on October 1 that Spark can't place outbound phone calls or finish purchases on its own; it walks you through checkout and hands control back for final approval.
