Overview
Claude is bringing Cowork and chat into one experience. The rollout is staged: a product announcement does not establish that every plan or account already has the unified experience.
Cloud tasks can continue after the laptop closes, while local files and desktop computer use have different requirements. Skills, plugins and Projects serve different reuse and context roles.
Shared memory works across chat and cloud Cowork tasks, with a distinct limitation for locally executed sessions. Deleting a conversation does not automatically remove the memories created from it.
Check the rollout and supported-location list before comparing plans. Pro and Max have different usage allowances; API use is separate from the consumer subscription.
Identify whether your task can run wholly in the cloud or needs desktop access. Review the approval mode and memory settings. For teamwork, confirm both sharing controls and whether every participant has the relevant experience rather than relying on the plan name alone.
