A panel that sits on top of the page (old Quick Help float) instead of living in the normal layout.
Why this word exists
Some helpers hover above the page instead of sitting in the flow. A float is that overlay panel — Botski's old Quick Help float is the shop example.
Floats are easy to overdo; soft-mods and reduced-motion keep them calm. A float is not Live AIFree-form workshop chat on the site that stays off until Rich turns it on with spend caps. chat.
