How is Grok Bot different from Grok chat?
Grok chat is xAI’s assistant for a conversation: questions, writing, images, video, voice, and files, on grok.com and in the Grok apps. A Grok Bot is a teammate with a standing job on a persistent cloud computer. Chat is for the moment. A Bot can keep working after you close the laptop, keep role-specific context, use websites and connectors, and coordinate with other Bots. You do not need a named Bot for a one-off question. Use a Bot when the job will repeat, needs tools, or should run while you are away.

A simple split
- Chat: mostly back-and-forth in one thread, and it stops when you leave.
- Grok Bot: a named job, a cloud computer, skills, and routines, with your approvals.
- Official Grok docs point to Grok Bot when you want real work finished on that computer.
